SUMMER EATING
Summer begins and so do outdoor festivals and farmers markets, everywhere. So now there is no excuse for not eating your fruits and veggies. Eating a diet rich in these foods can definitely improve your health and it’s said the more colorful they are the healthier you will be! Most veggies and fruits are alkalizing to the body and decreasing body acidity improves overall health. Although eating the recommended 9-13 servings a day of fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds is challenging, it is doable. Here are some tips to help you meet these goals.
Leave the clean, washed skins on fruits and veggies as much as possible. The skins are usually the most nutrient dense parts, loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and fiber.
Add fruit and veggie slices to your water bottle to get an alkalizing boosts of flavor and refreshment.
Put veggies and/or fruit into your morning omelettes, oatmeals and healthy breads like zucchini bread or zucchini oatmeal.
Try having a fresh veggie and sprout sandwich or try fruit like apples and pears on a ham & cheese panini.
